Girl At The Front Of The Class

Onjali Q. Raúf’s books have truly captured the hearts of my grade 3 class, sparking meaningful conversations about empathy and kindness.

“The Boy at the Back of the Class”

This novel tells the touching story of Ahmet, a young refugee, through the eyes of his classmates. Our kids were moved by how Alexa and her friends went above and beyond to make Ahmet feel welcome. It reminded us of the importance of standing up for others and embracing differences. The story opened our eyes to the challenges some children face and inspired us to think about how we can make a difference in our own community.

“The Girl at the Front of the Class”

This vibrant picture book follows Layla, a new student, and Adam, who reaches out with a simple act of friendship. My students loved discussing how small gestures can have a big impact. The colorful illustrations and heartfelt story made it easy for everyone to understand the importance of being kind and inclusive.

Seeing my students connect with these stories and share their own thoughts on kindness was truly heartwarming. These books have not only entertained but also enriched our classroom, teaching us all to be a little more compassionate.
